Al Hilli Watchtowers, Al Ain
Situated to the northeast of Al Ain City, the village of Al Hilli was protected by two towers, Sheikh Zayed Murabba and Seebat Khalifa bin Nahyan, collectively known as the Al Hilli Watchtowers. The tower stands on top of a man-made earth mound, and has the classic features of the defensive murabbaa or a square tower. They are built of the materials found locally, mud brick and palm trunks and fronds. This building was used by the Ruler’s Representative, whose task was to resolve any disputes arising between local families.
