The Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation was founded in 1981 as a center of art and learning and situated in a contemporary building of typical Islamic design with arched columns, elaborate courtyards, and well designed gardens and beautifully carved doorways. The center hosts a variety of events, including art exhibits, lectures, concerts and movies, and arts workshop classes. The Cultural Foundation comprises the National Archives, the National Library and the Institute of Culture and Art and it is operated under the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.

The Cultural Foundation is open from 8 AM to 2 PM and from 5 PM to 8 PM.
