Car Parking in Abu Dhabi City
If you decide to park your car in the street parking areas in city, please make sure you are always carrying few 1 Dhs. coins with you to pay as car parking fee. Car parking areas in shopping malls and hotels are still available for free parking as before. But, Mawaqif is levying fees on car parking locations in the most densely trafficked commercial areas in Abu Dhabi city to address the growing demand for parking. The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi has begun the implementation of Mawaqif parking management services in the Tourist Club Area. For the initial phase, paid parking locations in Abu Dhabi city include:
(a) The area between Khalifa Street, Hamdan Street, Eastern Ring Road, and Liwa Street,
(b) The area between Khalifa Street, Hamdan Street, Eastern Ring Road, and Bani Yas Street.
A paid parking service fee will be applied in these areas from 8am to 10pm, Saturday to Thursday. The charges will be Dh3 per hour for premium parking (curbstones painted in turquoise and white) with a maximum permitted parking duration of four hours, and Dh2 per hour or Dh15 per day for standard parking (curbstones painted in turquoise and black). Parking will be free on official holidays. Residents living in paid parking areas in Abu Dhabi can apply for a Resident Parking Permit. Residential permits allow you to park in any available standard parking bay in the area where you reside. By clearly displaying your permit on the vehicle dashboard, you will be exempt from paying hourly or daily tariffs at the parking meters. For more details, please visit mawaqif.ae
